Meanwhile, the Cachar administration is busy arranging for the much-awaited Cabinet meeting in Silchar for the first time. Expectations are high that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will announce some special package for Barak Valley which was badly affected by the recent deluge. During his brief visit in Karimganj to attend Durga Puja in October, Sarma informed that he would speak to the agitating labourers of Dolu TE where a Greenfield airport was proposed to be built. The government had already completed the acquisition of 2500 bighas of land but for some unknown reasons there was no further move on the project.
