SILCHAR: As the examination season begins this week with the HSLC followed by the HSSLC, the Cachar district administration stepped up arrangements to ensure fairness of the entire process.

In an order, District Magistrate Mridul Yadav enforced prohibitory measures under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to ensure a free, fair, and transparent examination process. The HSLC examination, set to commence from February 15 and conclude on March 3, would be held across 44 centers while the Higher Secondary Final Examination, scheduled from February 13 to March 17, would be conducted at 28 centres in Cachar. The administration has imposed restrictions, strictly barring unauthorized gatherings within a 100-meter radius of examination centers. Only candidates, authorized scribes, and officials directly involved in the examination process would be allowed entry.

In addition, a complete ban has been enforced on the possession of electronic gadgets, including mobile phones (even in switched-off mode), smartwatches, fitness bands, bluetooth devices, electronic pens, scanners, and earphones inside the examination halls. The use of programmable calculators, pen drives, textual materials (printed or handwritten) and any other items that could facilitate unfair means have also been strictly prohibited.
