GUWAHATI: In a remarkable display of cooperation, the Cachar police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) joined forces to apprehend two individuals and seize a substantial quantity of Methamphetamine at Kumbhirgram Airport. The contraband, with an estimated street value of 20 crore rupees, was confiscated during an operation conducted on a Thursday.

Acting on precise intelligence, a meticulously planned joint operation was executed by the Cachar police and the CISF, targeting drug traffickers at Kumbhirgram Airport. This operation culminated in the successful recovery of four parcels, collectively containing a staggering 4 kilograms of Methamphetamine.

The two individuals apprehended in this operation have been identified as Joseph Lalnunmawia, aged 22, and F Lalhmangaihzuala, aged 30. Both are believed to hail from Mizoram and are now in custody, facing serious charges related to drug trafficking.

Subrata Sen, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Cachar district, provided insight into the collaborative effort. He explained that the operation was executed seamlessly by the Cachar police and the CISF, leading to the seizure of Methamphetamine worth a whopping 20 crore rupees. The intelligence that guided this operation indicated that a substantial consignment of contraband drugs was set to leave the state via Cachar district. In response to this information, the joint operation was swiftly launched, resulting in the recovery and confiscation of 4 kilograms of Methamphetamine from the luggage of the two suspects at Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar.

It was revealed that the suspects had been scheduled to travel to Kolkata from Silchar, possibly as a means to transport the narcotics to another location. Their boarding passes served as key evidence of their intended journey and their involvement in this illicit drug trade.

This successful operation is just one example of the dedication and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies when they collaborate to combat drug-related crimes.
