SILCHAR: In two separate raids, the Cachar police on Tuesday seized a huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 3 crores.
SP Numol Mahatta informed that a container truck was intercepted at Silchar Bye Pass and during a thorough search, 8 soap cases containing suspected heroin were recovered which were kept concealed in the secret chambers of the vehicle. The seized cases weighed about 88 grams. Two peddlers, identified as Md Jamanur Majumdar and M Ahmed Laskar, have been arrested. The price of the narcotics substance in the black market is about Rs 60 lakhs, the SP claimed.
Mahatta further said that 3 persons identified as Pabindra Riang, Baharul Islam Laskar, and Prabhat Barman were apprehended at Rangirghat Part ii, Sonai, and during a search, 9000 YABA tablets were recovered from them. One scooty used for transportation was also seized. The price of the seized narcotics substance is about Rs 3 crore.
