Dhekiajuli: The town of Dhekiajuli witnessed a historic moment of pride and celebration as one of its own, Dr. Ritwikraj Bhuyan, a distinguished cardiologist and Head of the Department of Robotic Surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi, was accorded a grand public felicitation. Organized by Dhekiajuli Nagarik Mancha, the event took place at the Trimurti Auditorium and saw participation from over twenty esteemed organizations from the region.
The ceremony commenced at 11am, with social worker Dhruva Kumar Bora presiding over the event. A vast array of organizations, including senior citizen groups, cultural committees, academic institutions, medical and business associations, and political representatives, came together to honour Dr. Bhuyan’s remarkable contributions to the field of medicine.
During his acceptance speech, Dr. Bhuyan delivered an impactful message on the importance of education. “Where one studies is not as crucial as the knowledge they acquire. The youth must embrace modern advancements and adapt to the rapid evolution of education and healthcare,” he emphasized. Dr. Bhuyan also shed light on the remarkable progress in medical sciences, particularly in organ transplantation, reassuring the audience that heart, liver and kidney transplants are now successfully performed in top hospitals across India.
Sharing a notable experience from his illustrious career, Dr. Bhuyan recounted the transportation and transplantation of a heart from Nagpur to New Delhi through a specially coordinated green corridor, highlighting the advancements in emergency medical services. Additionally, he addressed the adverse effects of excessive mobile phone usage, urging people to prioritize their health and well-being.
