He also expressed his gratitude to MAC Johny Timung for his support to the Coffee Board during the event. Meanwhile, Johny Timung encouraged the people of Karbi Anglong to explore coffee plantation, highlighting the region's favorable land conditions and the high market value of coffee. He offered guidance to those interested in starting their own coffee plantations.
Previously, a two-day training program for coffee farmers was held at the Regional Coffee Research Station (RCRS) in Diphu, Karbi Anglong. The program, aimed at educating new farmers about coffee cultivation, also included the distribution of coffee seeds for the 2024-2025 financial year.
Dr. Atiqur Rahman Bora, Deputy Director of Research at RCRS, shared that before October's awareness program, there were no coffee growers in the region. However, 31 individuals have since committed to starting coffee plantations in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
These farmers have completed nursery training and will begin planting coffee in July. Dr. Bora encouraged more people in Karbi Anglong to explore coffee farming, highlighting its potential.
