Assam: Chamaria Lot Mondal Arrested for Accepting Bribe for Manipulating Land Records
GUWAHATI: Jibesh Kr Deb Sharma, Lot Mandal of Chamaria Revenue Circle, was brought into custody by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, on July 6. The government official was detained for receiving a bribe for changing land records, according to the anti-corruption team.
On the other hand, Sabibar Rahman, a Junior Engineer from the Office of the Block Development Officer at the Debitola Development Block, Kazigaon, Kokrajhar district, was brought into custody by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, on June 26. Rahman was apprehended after allegedly asking a complainant for a bribe of Rs. 15,000 in exchange for the clearance of outstanding invoices.
The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption immediately began an inquiry after receiving the allegation. The diligent crew successfully set a trap, which resulted in Sabibar Rahman's capture. He was caught receiving part of the requested bribe of Rs. 5,000. Rahman's possession of the corrupt money was quickly taken back and seized in front of impartial witnesses.
In an odd instance, a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) was suspended after it was claimed that he accepted a bribe from Anganwadi employees and thereafter gave them their money back in Raha, Nagaon.
Dimbeswar Mahanta has been named as the accused CDPO. According to sources, Mahanta accepted Rs 20,000 in bribes from Anganwadi workers in exchange for resolving a high court lawsuit brought about by a job-related issue. In June, aix gram panchayat workers were suspended after they were detained in Laharighat in the Morigaon district of Assam on suspicion of engaging in graft.
Following their detention, the Commissionerate of Panchayats and Rural Development imposed the suspension.
The six of them are accused of embezzling money intended for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) recipients, according to information received.
Following the admission, all of the accused were detained and are being held in jail.
Mustafijur Rahman (computer assistant), Rekibuddin (former GPC), Partha Pratim Saikia (current GPC), Raju Bordoloi (GRC), Saiful Islam (accredited engineer), and Niyamat Ali (former GPC) have been named as the accused panchayat employees.
