Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Ranks 7th Most Popular CM: Survey

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma ranked 7th among the top 10 most popular CMs in India while Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik became the most popular CM with a 71.1% approval rating.

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma ranked 7th among the top ten list of most popular chief ministers across the country.

CM Sarma with this became the first and only Chief Minister of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure the position in the top 10 most popular CMs in India.

The chief minister received an approval rating of 56.6 per cent after the voting process which led him to earn the fame of being the 7th most popular CM.

It may be mentioned in addition that CM Sarma is the first chief minister from the BJP ruled state of Assam to receive more than 50 percent approval.

The ranking is done according to the poll conducted by India Today among the chief minister from different states of the country.

According to the poll results, Naveen Patnaik the Odisha chief minister became the most popular CM with an approval rating of 71.1%.

West Bengal chief minister and TMC leader, Mamata Banerjee ranked second among the top 10 with 69.9 percent approval ratings.

M K Stalin the Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu stood in the third rank. Uddhab Thackeray, the chief minister of Maharashtra became the fourth most popular CM across the nation.

The chief minister of South state Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan ranked 5th in the top 10 list of most popular CM.

The chief minister of the national capital, Arvind Kejriwal ranked in 6th position. In the 8th position, the name of Bhupesh Baghel was added who is the chief minister of the state Chhattisgarh.

The chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot somehow managed to be on the list by securing the 9th rank.

According to the poll survey, 58 percent of respondents responded as they are satisfied with the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country's PM on the other hand 52.5% of the respondents wished the next PM of India to be Narendra Modi.

In January 2022, the Prime Minister received a 52.5 percent rating of approval which seems to have been increased as in January 2021 he obtained 38% approval ratings.

While opposition leader Rahul Gandhi secured the rank of 2nd with a 46% approval rating following Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
