SIVASAGAR:  A group of concerned citizens from Sivasagar has raised objections regarding the alleged irregularities in the allotment process of the newly constructed market complex at Jengonikotia in Sivasagar. The complex, managed by the Agriculture Marketing Board, has allegedly been allocated without transparency, leading to dissatisfaction among the local unemployed youth.

In a formal petition submitted to the Sivasagar District Commissioner, the citizens group led by Mujahid Ali highlighted that no public notifications or advertisements were issued regarding the availability of rooms in the complex. This lack of awareness, they alleged, has deprived many eligible individuals of the opportunity to apply.

Further concerns were raised regarding the allocation of rooms to government employees, which, according to the petitioners, contradicts the objective of providing economic opportunities to unemployed youth. Additionally, they pointed out that the security deposit of Rs 1,00,000 and a monthly rent of Rs 5,000 are prohibitively high, making it difficult for financially struggling individuals to afford the spaces.

Through the petition, they have demanded immediate cancellation of the current allotment process, initiation of a fresh, transparent allotment procedure with proper public notifications and advertisements, prioritization of local unemployed youth in the allocation process, and a review of the financial charges to make them more affordable for unemployed individuals.
