GUWAHATI: After the results of the Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) Elections in Assam were announced on Tuesday, violent fighting broke out.

According to reports, members of the Congress party threw rocks at the cars of Deori supporters, injuring a number of them.

Reports state that after the Congress party's poor performance in the council polls, party members attacked an independent candidate's supporters.

A number of individuals were hurt in the incident at Silapathar, Assam. According to reports, Debakanta Deori's supporters were attacked by Congress workers and hurt. Debakanta Deori had won the election as an independent.

Additionally, it was claimed that members of the Congress party threw stones at the cars of Deori's supporters, injuring a number of them.

At the Silapathar Police Station, a case has been opened against members of the Congress party.

It should be mentioned that results for the 22 seats up for DAC elections in Assam, which were held on Tuesday with a turnout of nearly 80% of the total electorate of 43,595 voters, were announced today.

According to sources, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by the BJP, won 12 of the 22 seats up for election in the Deori autonomous council on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) secretary's office, the saffron party won 11 seats while its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) got one.

After the day's counting was complete, the opposition Congress was able to take home two seats, while Independent candidates triumphed in eight constituencies.

80 percent of the 43,595 eligible voters cast ballots on Tuesday, according to estimates.

Six districts and four subdistricts of additional districts collectively contain the 22 constituencies.
