
HAFLONG: In a major revelation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a budgetary provision of Rs. 100 crores for road infrastructure development in Dima Hasao. This was announced in a press conference after a one-day session of the Assam Assembly in Kokrajhar.
The Assembly session aimed to discuss the upliftment and development of Sixth Schedule areas in Assam, especially Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), East and West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The initiative, which is spearheaded by the Assam Assembly and Speaker Biswajit Daimary, is intended to build bridges with the people living in these protected areas, ensuring progress and harmony.
During the course of the session, CM Sarma unveiled major development packages for the BTR, KAAC and DHAC. A Rs. 100 crore budget is reserved specifically for internal connectivity in Dima Hasao, which will hugely improve road transport and accessibility within the region.
The Assam Government also declared major decisions to promote industrialization, renewable energy and biodiversity. A Mega Industrial Park will be set up in Morigaon on 569 bighas of land. The Cabinet gave its approval to the Assam Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2025, to encourage investments in solar, wind, and hydro power projects.
Assam Power Distribution Company will give a Letter of Acceptance for the 250 MW Solar Plant under the "Mukhya Mantri Sauro Shakti Prokolpo." Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park will be given notice, covering 316.29 sq.km lands in Chirang and Kokrajhar.
Some other sanctions are the setting up of Swami Vivekananda University in Chirang, Post Graduate increments to Ayurvedic physicians, and changes in Autonomous Council Acts permitting interim appointments and raising Tiwa Autonomous Council members to 38 from 36.
