Sivasagar: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to the historic Rang Ghar in Sivasagar on May 2 in order a review a beautification project with additional amenities for uplifting tourism in the region.

The state government is planning to acquire 78 bigha lands adjacent to the historic structure to implement the project by this year, the chief minister informed.

"Relived the splendour of Ahom architecture by visiting the historic Rang Ghar, Sivasagar to review a beautification project with added amenities for boosting tourism. Our Govt plans to acquire 78 bigha land adjacent to the historic structure to execute the project this year," the CM tweeted.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also visited the Tai Museum in Sivasagar, after which, he said that the Assam government has planned to give a facelift to the museum with a larger area for display, more stock of artefacts and manuscripts, and a conference hall, etc.

CM Sarma directed the officials to undertake all necessary measures so that improvement and expansion work can commence from November this year.

The others who were present include the likes of Assam Cabinet ministers Ranoj Pegu and Jogen Mohan, MP Topon Kumar Gogoi and MLAs Taranga Gogoi and Akhil Gogoi.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi has expressed his satisfaction and lauded CM Sarma for the government's move to develop the historic Sivasagar town.
