GUWAHATI: On June 20, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a memorial plaque to mark the opening of the eagerly anticipated bridge in Golakganj's Dhubri district near the Bangladeshi border.

Speaking to the media, the CM claimed that the 27-kilometer bridge had only been able to reduce travel time by one minute. A long-standing local demand of the people of Golakganj, comprising the entire Dhubri district, has now been granted, according to CM Sarma.

The chief minister told reporters that the 27-kilometer bridge had only been able to cut travel time by one minute. A long-standing local demand of the people of Golakganj, comprising the entire Dhubri district, has now been granted, according to CM Sarma.

The Chief Minister chose to use the road rather than a helicopter to get to the venue of the inauguration ceremony at Golakganj, Dhubri, due to the poor weather conditions. CM Sarma announced on Twitter that the state government is constructing around 95 bridges across the state that cross numerous rivers.

Costing Rs. 74 crore, the 700-meter-long bridge spans the Gangadhar River between Golakganj and Kanuri.

Taking on twitter, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that, “We are building over 95 bridges across various rivers in Assam.

This one is over the River Gangadhar, which we have opened today.”

Today marked the official opening of the 700-meter-long bridge over the Gangadhar River between Golakganj and Kanuri, which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 74 crore.

The bridge will assist the neighbourhood and aid in boosting economic activity in the Dhubri District's areas connecting Lakhimari Gaon Panchayat and Golakganj Municipal Area.

According to report, the large char fields and several river channels that make up the 61-km-long border area in Assam's Dhubri district make border security there a challenging chore, especially during the rainy season. This is where the river Brahmaputra enters Bangladesh.
