Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Launched 4-Year Degree Program Under NEP

GUWAHATI: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, introduced the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, in all State Universities and Colleges on June 3, 2023. One of the first states in the nation to implement NEP 2020 is Assam.

All higher education institutions in the state will now offer a 4-year undergraduate programme. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which seeks to transform the Indian educational system, forms the basis for the courses.

Taking on Twitter, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that, "This biggest education reform in 30 years will ensure

✅ Students will get a common foundational training

✅ Multiple Entry & Exit points along the duration of the degree

✅ Choice Based Credit System to instill innovation & flexibility”

In his speech while launching NEP, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that,” I implore educational institutions to look into how they may use their current infrastructure to conduct additional research in the afternoon.

I'm pleased that our government is attempting to develop a standard curriculum and course design for all universities.”

Meanwhile, The Gauhati University-FYUGP programme will be implemented on the university campus and in all of its associated colleges.

A Bachelor's Degree in a Stream and a Bachelor's Degree in a Discipline are the two sorts of degrees that the university will grant. GU will provide 39 Bachelor's Degrees within the stream-based category, and 28 stand-alone degrees under the various disciplines, including a Bachelor's Degree in Vocational Studies.

Moreover, the institution has already discussed the issue and secured endorsement from numerous committees and forums in order to assure the smooth implementation of the new programme.

The syllabi for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) were also accepted by the Academic Council, which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University.

The GU websites, particularly the NEP portal at https://nep.gauhati.ac.in, will have all the information on the FYUGP course structure and syllabi available online. Students can provide feedback using the site to have their questions answered.
