Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Met Newly Appointed Teachers of Tea Garden Adarsha Vidyalaya

GUWAHATI: During a program held in Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met with newly appointed principals and teachers at the state's 19 new Tea Garden Adarsha Vidyalayas on Thursday.

The Assam Chief Minister also discussed the new Tea Garden Adarsha Vidyalayas' Mid-Day Meal (MDM), free textbooks, uniforms, water and power bills, and other issues. He also presented each institution with a cheque for Rs 1 lakh as a contingency fund and asked for loyal service.

Taking on twitter , CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that, “Principals, teachers & staff of our model schools have a unique responsibility on their shoulders and they have our unequivocal support.

For the first time — public education is travelling right into the heart of Assam’s tea gardens, where we are building 100 more schools.”

Sarma also said , “We have decided to open 19 Adarsha High Schools in the state's tea garden areas this year. Our government has appointed 130 teachers to these Adarsha High Schools. I and Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu met with the newly appointed teachers today. These Adarsha Vidyalayas will be officially launched between June 20 and June 22, and the good news is that about 2600 kids have enrolled in these schools, with an average of 150 students per school in Class 6 and Class 9.”

He also said, “We already opened 96 schools, and this year we will open 19 more. The Lok Nirman Vibhag will soon begin work on 100 more schools. We may argue that we were successful in creating a secondary education environment in the tea garden areas, which was not previously evident. Each school has been assigned eight teachers.”

In May 2022, in an effort to provide educational opportunities for the children of Assam's tea garden workers, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated six model schools, while 90 more began academic activities. Sarma dedicated the schools in Sonitpur's tea gardens of Ghagra, Rupajuli, Sonajuli, Thakurbari, and Fulbari.
