
GUWAHATI: The 'bhumi pujan' ceremony for the much awaited 4-lane extradosed PSC bridge over the Brahmaputra River will be presided over by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on December 8, 2024. The ceremony, which will mark the start of this major infrastructure project, will take place at Bathan Pam, Sualkuchi.
Palashbari located on National Highway 17 on the southern bank and Sualkuchi situated on the Bongshar-Sualkuchi Road on the northern bank are connected by the 12.21-kilometer bridge project, which is a greenfield alignment. It is anticipated that the bridge will play a key role in urban growth and connectivity in the western Kamrup Metropolitan District.
Approach viaducts measuring 0.216 km on either side, wetland viaducts measuring 0.864 km, a southern bank approach road measuring 5.387 km, and a northern bank approach road measuring 1.927 km are all part of the project's grand design.
