Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Mission Bhumiputra Portal at the Srimanta Shakardev Kalakshertra here on Monday.

The objective of this portal is to provide digitalized caste certificates to the students within a month.

The applicants will be issued the certificates digitally signed by respective Deputy Commissioners, who will be assisted by official bodies of different castes in identifying or approving the caste of students.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, CM Sarma said, ''As part of our #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, we've launched #MissionBhumiputra, a landmark step to resolve issues faced by students in getting their caste certificates.

Eligible Class IX-XII students will now be able to download SC/ST/OBC certificates from http://bhumiputra.assam.gov.in.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarma also asserted that no question will be asked about the nationality of the indigenous people while applying for the caste certificate.

He also added that this will curb bribes while applying for caste certificates which have been a major issue for a long time.

In October last year, the Assam CM launched Mission Basundhara with the aim of my land and my rights.

Under this mission, people were allowed to apply for the disposal of land-related problems from October 2, 2021, through a portal – basundhara.assam.gov.in – till November 30, 2021.

The nine services under the Mission Basundhara are land mutation by the right of inheritance, land mutation after deed registration, partition for undisputed cases, conversion of 'annual patta' to 'periodic patta', reclassification of land, striking names of persons who are no longer in possession, allotment certificate to periodic patta, legacy data update, mobile number update of pattadaar.
