Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal visits Borpukhuri Farm

He appreciated the hardworking farmers who have focused on uplifting the rural economy by generating income from dairy farming despite the ongoing situation.

On Thursday he also acknowledged the local youth of Chowkighat in Sonitpur district for taking up farming in over 700 bighas of land. During his visit he lauded the initiative taken by the local youths. He also took the driving seat of a tractor which has been distributed by CMSGUY.

In a meeting where he reviewed the functioning of agricultural department at Guwahati, he urged the youth to take up farming as a means of self employment. He said the agricultural sector holds the key in providing employment opportunities to the state's youth returning from outside.

He also directed the agriculture department to provide seeds to the farmers by October every year, The Chief Minister said that timely distribution of seeds can help the farmers in increasing their production. He also put emphasis on the need to capture the markets of the northeast with Assam's agricultural products along with striving to penetrate the markets of neighbouring South East Asian countries.

CM also said in a tweet "They are role models of Narendra Modi Ji's vision of doubling farm income of 2022".

During his visit, he also encouraged the farmers.
