Assam: Minor Girl Allegedly Kidnapped By Married Man, CM Orders Probe

GUWAHATI: On January 4, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, gave the Dirbugarh police the go-ahead to investigate a possible kidnapping of a Marwari Hindu minor girl who, according to her family, was taken by a Muslim male.

The Assam chief minister's order was made after he became aware of the situation after reading a tweet from a man by the name of Manoj Kumar, who revealed information about the kidnapping of a juvenile girl identified as Dolly Agarwal, 17, a native of Duliajan town in the Dibrugarh district.

The youngster had gone to her tutoring on December 31 and has been missing since then, according to the complaint made by the girl's father Bharat Agarwal.

One of the missing girl's family told the media in an exclusive interview that they had previously filed a missing person complaint. Later, they accused Jahidul Ali, claiming that he might have been responsible for the incident.

"With all due respect. I want to let you know that my daughter Daily Agarwal, who is only 17 years old, has been missing since December 31, 2022, and that you were notified of this morning. However, later we learn that one Jahidul Ali, son of Abdul Jail, of the village of Balagaon, under the jurisdiction of Barpeta Road Police Station of the Barpeta District (Mobile No. 6000951231), has a connection to my daughter, and I am confident that said Jahidul Ali abducted my young daughter and kept her somewhere. The complaint stated, "Thana Kalgachia, Dist-Barpeta, Assam - 781319."

The girl's parents filed a missing persons report as soon as she vanished. The uncle of the missing girl, however, stated that as questions about Ali surfaced, "we went to the police station and registered the FIR putting him behind the whole mess. He said when asked how far the probe had gone, "We too enquired about the investigation to which police answered that they are thoroughly investigating the problem.
