ASSAM: CM Sarma Inaugurates ₹69.47-Crore Barkura Railway Overbridge in Nalbari

Nalbari: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated the ₹69.47-crore Barkura Railway Overbridge in Nalbari district, describing it as more than just an infrastructure project , a symbol of the region’s progress and unity.

Built to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety, the overbridge connects Barkura with Kumar Bhaskar Varma in Nalbari, significantly cutting travel time for commuters and facilitating smoother movement of goods and services.

Taking to social media after the inauguration, the Chief Minister wrote: “More than steel and concrete, this bridge is our future in motion, where connectivity reigns and people unite.”

Officials said the project is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters while boosting trade and economic activities in the region. Local residents welcomed the new bridge, calling it a long-awaited step towards improved connectivity in lower Assam.

The Barkura overbridge forms part of the state government’s ongoing push to upgrade transport infrastructure and link remote areas with major economic hubs.
