MORIGAON: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a large public gathering at Mikirbheta playground in Morigaon on Tuesday, appealing to voters to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections. During the campaign rally for four ZPC members, AP members, and ward members under the 54th Morigaon constituency, the Chief Minister criticized the Congress party for allegedly misleading the public during their 15-year rule under former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Dr. Sarma highlighted the BJP-led government’s initiatives, including providing free rice, cooking gas, and other benefits to the people of Assam. He also announced that the state government would provide Rs 2500 to newly graduated boy students to help them face interviews, aiming to support families with poor economic conditions.

The Chief Minister also promised to engage 30,000 unemployed local youths through a semiconductor project at Jagiroad, providing them with proper training. He highlighted the BJP government's initiatives to increase the state's road connectivity, pointing out that the previous Congress government had neglected to build roads in rural regions and over river dykes.

The rally was attended by over 10,000 BJP supporters, including Minister Piyush Hazarika, MLA Ramakanta Deuri, BJP president Ramprasad Sarkar, and general secretary Nirmal Konwar, who warmly welcomed the Chief Minister. Dr. Sarma’s speech focused on the BJP’s achievements and his vision for Assam’s development, urging voters to reject Congress’ “lures” and support the BJP.
