DIPHU: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Karbi Anglong district on Thursday to inaugurate a series of development projects valued at over Rs 100 crore. The Chief Minister emphasized that these initiatives are designed to enhance connectivity in the region and pay tribute to local unsung heroes.

In a post on X, CM Sarma stated, "I will shortly be in Karbi Anglong to dedicate a host of projects worth over Rs 100 crore to the people. These projects will boost connectivity, give a befitting honour to unsung heroes, and enhance the visual appeal of the region." The projects are intended to celebrate local heritage and elevate the area's natural and cultural beauty, marking a new phase of development.

On the previous day, the Assam CM announced plans to transform the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital into one of the largest medical facilities in the country. He revealed that the upcoming Mother and Child Care Hospital on the GMCH premises will provide specialized pediatric care and will be equipped with 800 beds, offering state-of-the-art treatment as part of a comprehensive restructuring plan for GMCH.

Besides, the Chief Minister visited the work of the Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital, which is likely to be functional by August 15 this year. Sarma also emphasized the Assam government's efforts to conserve indigenous faiths, stating that more than Rs 40 crore has been spent in the last two years to assist temples and prayer halls of indigenous people.
