Assam CM Urges Not To Put Too Many Pictures Of Him on Municipal Campaign Posters

According to the chief minister, too many pictures of CM putting in the election campaign are not required but the photo must be in the hearts of people.

GUWAHATI: In a meeting held on Saturday 12 February, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that too many posters with his pictures should not be used for campaigning purposes.

The meeting on Saturday was held among the BJP party workers for the discussion of various preparations regarding the upcoming municipal election across the state.

The chief minister said that he is ashamed to see too many pictures of him on posters everywhere therefore he doesn't want his photos to be put in the municipal campaign.

According to him too many pictures of CM putting in election campaigning are not required as the photo must be in the hearts of everyone.

The CM further says it makes him uncomfortable and shy when he passes throw villages and towns and sees his photos on posters hanging in different areas.

In the matter of campaigning with photos for elections, the CM said that people shouldn't be in pictures but they should be in the hearts of the citizens which is possible through their work.

He said that throughout the campaign poster, banners, manifestos, leaflets will be used by the committee as usual but they should make sure that all are cleaned after the completion of the voting process.

The chief minister was quoted saying to party workers 'Don't put too many pictures of me in the municipal campaign. I am ashamed to see my photos on posters. People shouldn't be in photos. One should live in hearts of masses.'

He urged the party workers to take this matter into consideration and stop using too many pictures of him in posters.

The Assam Election Commission announced that poll elections for 80 municipal boards will be held on the 6th of next month through the Electronic voting process (EVMs).

The last date to fill nomination is Tuesday 15 February and the scrutiny of applications will be done by the Commission on 17 February.
