Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora meets state party in-charge Jitendra Singh, discusses poll strategy

New Delhi: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora met party in-charge of Assam, Jitendra Singh and update him on the status of the party ahead of the Assam assembly elections.

The issue of forging alliances also came up during the discussions, Bora said. Regarding joining hands with the newly formed Asam Jatiya Parishad, Bora said Congress doors are open.

On the issue of Rajya Sabha Chairperson Venkaiah Naidu suspending the eight MPs including Bora, the Congress leader said the government tried to shut the voice of the Opposition but Congress would continue to stand with the farmers and raise its voice for them.

The controversy surrounding the Clause 6 committee report and delay in implementing the recommendations of the high-level committee also figured in the discussions.
