Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora Tests COVID Positive, Admitted to GMCH

Guwahati: Rajya Sabha MP and Assam Congress President Ripun Bora has tested positive for Covid-19 and is undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

He had tested positive on Friday and was shifted to the GMCH at night.

Bora had shared the news about his health on his Facebook page and also tweeted about it asking all those who came in contact with him in the last few days to go for COVID tests.

"I have been tested positive for #covid, all those in close proximity to me in the last one week are requested to kindly get themselves tested," Bora tweeted.

Bora's news of being COVID positive comes amid news of the death of two state legislators due to COVID. Gossaigaon MLA Majendra Narzary died on Wednesday, May 26 due to post-COVID complications, Tamulpur MLA Leho Ram Boro died on Saturday, May 29 due to COVID.

On Friday, Assam has recorded 80 deaths and over 5436 new COVID cases out of 1,22,977 tests done. Overall Positivity Percentage is 4.42% and Recovery Rate 85.47%.
