Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday staged a protest in New Delhi demanding flood relief funds from the center.

The Congress leaders led by APCC president Bhupen Bora alleged that the Assam government was not prepared for flood management and demanded the lists of release funds for the flood-affected districts public.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Assam Congress, said,'' Protest led by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupen Bora today took to the streets of New Delhi demanding the release of adequate flood relief from the central government to Assam.''

During the protest, Congress also alleged that the embankments have not been constructed as the bills of the contractor have not been paid due to which now commoners are suffering.

Assam is experiencing the worst flood which has affected millions of people in 32 districts. Several people have lost their lives while others forced to leave their places.

Both rail and road transportation have been blocked in the Barak valley area of the state and additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been sent to the area.

In the past 24 hours, around 11 people have died due to floods and landslides due to incessant rank over the past week. In addition to this, nearly 42 lakh people in over 30 districts have been affected by it.

A total of 2,31,819 inmates are taking shelter in 810 relief camps in the State while seven persons are missing for the last 24 hours.
