Assam Constituted Sub-committee With AASU To Examine Implementation Of The Assam Accord.

Guwahati: The Assam government has constituted a sub-committee with members from the government and All Assam Students' Union (AASU) to examine the implementation of the Assam Accord.

In a notification, it was mention that the Governor of Assam is pleased to constitute a Sub-Committee to examine and prepare a framework for implementation of all clauses of Assam Accord in general with special emphasis on Clause-6 (High Level Committee Report), Clause-7, Clause-9 and Clause-10 along with updation of National Register of Citizens, issues of flood and erosion, rehabilitation of martyrs' families and victims of Assam agitation and also in regard to the various problems faced by the state of Assam, including the potential for all round economic development.

The decision towards this end was taken after a marathon meeting which Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had with a delegation of 41 leaders of the central committee of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) at the State Guest House at Koinadhara here.

Assam Accord Implementation Minister Atul Bora said that the high-power committee would have representatives of the State Government and leaders of the AASU as its members. He said that the committee would submit its report to the Chief Minister within three months from the day of its formation. Bora said that Tuesday's meeting was held in a conducive atmosphere. The meeting discussed the implementation of Clauses 6, 7, 9 and 10 of the Assam Accord. He said that the Chief Minister and the AASU leadership exchanged views, suggestions on the implementation of the said clauses.
