Assam Cop Arrested on Charges of Attempt to Murder

MAJULI: A sub-inspector of Assam Police has been arrested from Majuli on charges of Attempt to Murder after a fight that left a woman hospitalised. She was admitted to a local medical facility for proper treatment following her injuries before shifting to Jorhat.

According to reports, the police officer is posted in Majuli of Assam and stays at a rented place located near his office. He had rented the place to stay along with a colleague of his. But on last Tuesday, a lady stayed with him in his rented location who happens to be his former lover.

Some conflict happened between them in the next morning that started with abusive behaviour and cursing between the two and finally escalated to physical violence between the two adults. The fight reached a condition where she was attacked with a blade leading to her injury.

The local people mentioned that they heard shouting coming from the house of the police official. On checking both were found fighting to lead to injuries and the police were informed. They took both of them for medical attention before proceeding with the necessary legal procedure. The woman was admitted to the Garmur Civil Hospital before shifting to Jorhat.

An FIR was lodged by the lady at the Kamalabari Police Station regarding the incident. The case was registered by the police in accordance with Section 307 (Attempt to Murder) and Section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC.

The actual reason leading to the fight and the subsequent injuries have not been known yet. The name of the official has been revealed to be one Parag Chaudhary. Assam Police has started the necessary investigation regarding the incident but none of the senior officials of the district has issued any statement regarding the same.
