Udalguri: A COVID-19 positive patient ran from a COVID isolation centre, but soon ran out of luck. Locals of the area caught hold of him and handed him over to the police. The police, in turn, handed him over to the isolation centre from where he had escaped. The incident took place in Udalguri district of Assam.

The patient has been identified as Rintu Doley. His freedom was very short-lived. He escaped from the isolation centre on Thursday night and he was brought back to the centre barely after 24 hours on the run, on Friday night.

This is not the first time that a COVID patient has escaped from a COVID centre. Several such cases have been reported from Assam and different parts of the country. In some instances, COVID patients have died while trying to escape COVID quarantine or COVID care centres. It is the isolation during COVID treatment that many people are not able to handle, which prompts them to run away from the centres.
