MORIGAON: The Communist Party of India (CPI), Morigaon Zilla Parishad, expressed serious concerns over hydropower projects like Ranganadi, Subansiri, Doyang, Karbi Langpi, Borapani, and Kurichu (Bhutan). It said that these were becoming hazards for people of Assam. The organization demanded the government to convert the said hydropower projects to multipurpose projects so that the excess water of the said projects do not create heavy floods in the state. The organization led by its veteran leader Munin Mahanta also raised slogans against price hike of essential commodities in the state and asked the government to control the skyrocketing prices immediately.
