BONGAIGAON: The Bongaigaon District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) staged a protest by gheraoing the Bongaigaon Revenue Circle Officer’s office, demanding immediate measures to address the flood crisis in Assam. The protesters demanded that the devastating floods in Upper Assam be declared a national disaster, that a permanent solution to the recurring flood problem be implemented, and that increased relief and assistance for flood-affected people be provided. They also raised several other demands concerning the problems faced by flood victims. The CPIM district committee members later submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Revenue Circle Officer, urging the government to take prompt action on their demands.
