Assam: CRPF Jawan Shoots Colleague In Nagaon, Later Commits Suicide

Nagaon: In a tragic turn of events, A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan in Nagaon shot himself to death after he fired a bullet at one of his colleagues in Assam's Nagaon district. 

The incident reportedly took place inside a CRPF camp in Nagaon on Thursday. 

Vijay Mishra and his colleague Pranjal Dutta were allegedly engaged in an argument. In the course of action, Mishra shot a bullet on Dutta's leg and fled the scene.

The weapon that Mishra used to shoot Dutta was his service rifle. On his way to the barracks to submit the rifle, Mishra chose to shoot at his colleague before depositing the weapon. After this Mishra fled the scene. Later it was found that Mishra had killed himself with his own service rifle.

One of the officials of the CRPF said, "Vijay fired at leg of Pranjal by using his service rifle and fled from the area. Later Vijay allegedly committed suicide with his service rifle."

The other jawan, Pranjal Dutta, was immediately shifted to Nagaon Civil Hospital. 

The matter will soon be investigated, according to a CRPF official.

In other news, a team of 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cyclists led by Sector Officer KR Dhiman reached Chirang district via Guwahati on September 8. The team had started their journey from Assam's Jorhat district on August 31 to take part in the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of 75th anniversary of India's Independence in New Delhi.
