NAGAON: A shocking daylight robbery occurred at the Islampatty area in Nagaon town, leaving a bank employee seriously injured today here.
According to eyewitnesses, a gang of four dacoits attacked a bank employee of Bandhan Bank, Banamali Chandra, who was on his way to deposit cash at its Haibargaon branch from the Islampatty area. The gang of dacoits struck Chandra with sharp weapons, severing his hand, and escaped with a large sum of money. The locals immediately rushed to Chandra’s aid but the gang took out arms and keeping them at gunpoint, fled away within seconds.
Meanwhile some locals admitted Chandra to a nearby hospital. The police arrived at the scene and an investigation is underway.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of the area, which is densely populated. The police have assured that they are taking the matter seriously and are working to catch the culprits.
