Assam: Dead Body Recovered in Biswanath, Triggers Panic Among Locals

BISWANATH: The recovery of a dead body triggered panic among the residents of the Biswanath region of the state on Sunday. The body was later identified as that of a local person who had gone missing a few days back.

In a disturbing development, the local people of the Bamgaon village in Ward Number 8 noticed a dead body floating on the river. On proper checking, it was found that the body belonged to one Bhola Bora, aged 60 years and belonging to the same village.

The person had gone missing three days ago. Although the local people have speculated that the person must have drowned while going for a swim in the river, the truth will come to light only after the police complete their investigation into the matter.

Previously, in a heartbreaking development, the dead body of a young child was recovered from a drain in the Cachar district of the state of Assam. The father of the child was arrested in relation to the incident after the mother had filed a complaint against her husband. The dead body was recovered from a drain in the Udharbong locality. Later the body was identified as that of Ayesha and was sent for post-mortem procedures to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, the mother of the child, Farida, mentioned that the father Najir Uddin Laskar, a resident of the Lathigram village often assaulted her as well as their daughter. He also mentioned that she was beaten up mercilessly before she left for her mother’s home. She later came to know that their 6-year-old daughter Ayesha was being sold off by Najir Uddin Laskar. When she got back home and questioned him regarding the same, she did not have any reply.
