Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta visits Rup Shikha Nath to encourage her
The inspirational journey of bed-ridden Rup Shikha Nath of Mangaldai, who secured admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)

MANGALDAI: "The inspirational journey of bed-ridden Rup Shikha Nath of Mangaldai, who secured admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi is a rare achievement and is the reflection of her indomitable spirit, courage and strong determination to get higher education despite her severe neurological disorder since birth. Assam Police is proud of her rare achievement as her parents are serving in the Special Branch of Assam Police as Sub Inspectors. As she is in the need of the constant company of her mother during her days in JNU, we will arrange special leave for her mother," said Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta during his visit to the residence of Rup Shikha at Jyoti Nagar on Saturday afternoon.
The DGP on being informed of her achievement, decided to meet this exceptionally brilliant girl and also gifted an amount as a mark of inspiration and encouragement. He also assured to extend all help, support and cooperation to Rup Shikha to complete her post graduation in JNU through the officials of Assam Police serving in New Delhi.
Tulumoni Kalita, the mother of Dhritiraj Bastav Kalita who created a rare record by topping the HSLC exam under SEBA and HSSLC (Arts) exam under AHSEC, accorded a hearty welcome to the visiting DGP at the residence of Rup Shikha. The DGP also intimately interacted with Rup Shikha and her parents. Darrang Superintendent of Police Prasanta Saikia also accompanied DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta during his visit.
Office bearers of Mangaldai Media Circle, namely president Bhargab Kumar Das and general secretary Mayukh Goswami have highly appreciated DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta for his visit to inspire and encourage Rup Shikha and her parents.
