
DHUBRI: The District Administration of Dhubri in Assam recently held a major distribution event, offering essential financial support to numerous beneficiaries.
The event, conducted at Pramathesh Chandra Barua Field, featured the distribution of Negotiable Deposit Certificates (NDCs), seed capital under the PMFME scheme, and Relief DBT. The event was conducted in the presence of Prasanta Phukan, the Minister of Power, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Medical Education & Research, Government of Assam.
In his speech, Minister Phukan emphasized the government’s steadfast dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses. He stressed the significance of financial assistance and skill development programs in empowering individuals and driving economic growth, particularly in rural regions.
A key highlight of the event was the provision of relief to microfinance borrowers. More than 4,104 beneficiaries from various institutions, such as Bandhan Bank and A.S.A. Microfinance Limited, were granted loan-waiver certificates under the Assam Microfinance Program.
In addition, 170 families impacted by the severe floods and storms of 2024 received financial relief through DBT. The total flood relief disbursed surpassed Rs. 6 crore, focusing on vital sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and household damages.
The PMFME scheme also played a crucial role in the event, with 270 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) receiving Rs. 1 crore in financial assistance, enabling them to start and expand their micro-enterprises.
The distribution event highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, economic stability, and the empowerment of small-scale entrepreneurs and flood-affected families in Dhubri. Through timely financial assistance and support, the government seeks to promote recovery, rehabilitation, and sustainable economic development in the region.
