DHUBRI: Allegations and counter-allegations have swept through Dhubri District Jail in Assam, disrupting its calm atmosphere.

Jail Superintendent Prashanta Rajbanshi is at the centre of this scandal after a female guard named Deepshikha accused him of sexual harassment, along with a prisoner named Majibur Rahman and a previous jail guard named Krishna Barman.

But when Deepshikha's mother publicly denied her daughter's allegations, the story took a sharp turn. The mother shockingly revealed that Deepshikha conspired with her lover, Kankan Barman, to manufacture the accusations against Rajbanshi in order to obtain a transfer.

She further claimed that her daughter had physically abused her and evicted her from the jail premises.

Superintendent Rajbanshi strongly refuted the charges, emphasising that he had already looked into a complaint that Deepshikha had made against Krishna Barman.

According to reports, the investigation's conclusions were delivered on November 26 to the Inspector General of Prisons and the Dhubri District Commissioner. He cast doubt on the veracity of the new accusations, speculating that they might be a component of a bigger plot.

Jail officials revealed that Deepshikha's pay had been delayed for a few days because she had taken an unapproved leave of absence, which only served to fuel the fire.

Locals and activists have called for a comprehensive and unbiased investigation to uncover the truth as the dispute heats up. It is anticipated that the authorities would launch a thorough investigation to resolve the contradictory allegations and guarantee that justice is served.
