GUWAHATI: Authorities in Assam's Dhubri will burn drugs worth more than Rs 30 lakh, officials announced on Wednesday.

According to rumors, the Dhubri authorities would take the initiative to destroy drugs seized during anti-narcotic operations in the area. The police and district officials will destroy drugs in a brick kiln in Gauripur town in the Dhubri district, as per the information that has been received.

Drugs worth roughly Rs 30, 97, 940 will be destroyed during the drive, according to Dhubri district officials involved in the exercise.

It should be mentioned that yesterday's combined operation at the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri, Assam, resulted in the arrest of one individual and the detention of two others, as well as the discovery of fake currency and illegal drugs.

Initial reports state that the Border Security Force (BSF) and police together conducted the operation in the Assamese village of Tistarpar in the Dhubri district. A total of one lakh rupees' worth of counterfeit Indian cash was confiscated during the operation.

40 containers of brown sugar were also recovered by the joint BSF and Dhubri Police squad in addition to the bogus currency, they reported.

The person who was detained in connection with the incident had his identification revealed by officials. Noor Islam Sheikh is the person who has been identified as him. Two other people were also taken into custody by the authorities for interrogation.

The two people arrested will be questioned, they claimed, and an investigation into the situation has been started. Their identities remained hidden in the interim.

The Assam Rifles intercepted a smuggling attempt, confiscated heroin worth Rs 60 lakh from Aizawl, and detained two women. Based on specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles and the Special Narcotics Police Station CID (crime), Aizawl conducted a joint operation in the Sateek neighborhood on Monday.

Nine soap cases (120 grams) of heroin (No. 4) worth Rs 60 lakh were seized during the operation. One of the two women who have been arrested is a citizen of Myanmar, according to Assam Rifles.
