DIBRUGARH: The District Transport Office (DTO) in Dibrugarh has announced a substantial increase in its revenue collection for the financial year 2024-25, reaching an impressive Rs 92,00,66,371. This represents a notable rise from last year’s earnings of Rs 84,03,86,939, signifying the office’s effective operations and heightened compliance among vehicle owners.
“This growth in revenue is due to multiple sources, including motor vehicle taxes, fees for vehicle registration and driving licenses, pollution control charges, fines from traffic violations, and arrears collected from tax defaulters,” Dibrugarh DTO Hirakjyoti Deka said. He added that the increase is indicative of improved compliance and a surge in vehicle transactions within the district.
In the previous financial year, 2023-24, the DTO recorded 91.14% of its targeted revenue of Rs 92.20 crore. The primary contributors to the revenue during that period included Rs 10,34,55,184 from compounded fines, Rs 2,35,28,122 from arrear tax collections, and Rs 8,49,655 from the Assam Passenger & Goods Tax (APGT).
