DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation has officially rolled out "Project Safe Stay," a digital initiative that will transform the registration and verification procedure of accommodation providers in the region. Officially launched from a dedicated portal, this project is aimed at simplifying licensing procedures while following strict safety and hygiene standards in all forms of lodging.

During the launch event on Sunday, Mayor Saikat Patra emphasized the initiative's goal of fostering a secure environment for both accommodation providers and guests. "Project Safe Stay is a significant advancement in our efforts to promote tourism while maintaining the highest levels of safety and comfort," he stated.

It will cover all the various kinds of accommodations like homestays, paying guest facilities, and hostels. The portal now allows a property owner to do registration, acquire trade licenses, and exhibit municipal safety compliances under one window.

According to the mayor, this previous registration procedure was always very tedious and lengthy. "Through Project Safe Stay, we streamlined these procedures for easier legitimation for providers while providing high standards of service," he said.

To facilitate the initiative, the DMC has established a dedicated helpline staffed with trained personnel to assist users with technical support. Another measure would be a standardized rating system. This way, guests would know what they can expect with respect to safety measures, hygiene practices, and general service quality. Dibrugarh Deputy Mayor Ujjal Phukon mentioned that the plan is to develop this hospitality sector as more professional and reliable.
