SRIBHUMI: In a shocking case of human trafficking, Niladri Shekhar Das, a doctor at Sribhumi District Civil Hospital, has been charged with illegally selling a newborn baby to a couple for monetary reward.

It is reported that the incident started when a woman went to the doctor requesting an abortion. The doctor, however, is said to have convinced her to give birth to the child. Once the woman gave birth to a baby girl at a private medical facility, Das is reported to have arranged for the illegal transfer of the child to another couple for money.

The District Child Protection Committee (DCPC) was made aware of the situation and took prompt action. Officials were able to successfully rescue the newborn, who is currently placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

In response to the charges, the district administration has filed legal action against the accused doctor. The government is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover more about the case and identify any other staff involved in this despicable act.

The case has serious implications on the ethical practice of the medical profession and the potential for exploitation in a condition of vulnerability. The DCPC and CWC are committed to the health and well-being of the rescued child as they pursue justice in the heinous case.
