
GUWAHATI: Retired professor of College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Dr. Mineswar Hazarika, has been conferred with the 'Bharat Gaurav' award for 2024-25. The award was conferred during the 7th Indian Cultural Festival organized in Gulbarga, Karnataka, on February 5. The event was graced by distinguished guests like Dharmacharjya Aveshananda Maharaj of Mathura Geeta Ashram, Pt. K.N. Govinda Acharjya, founder of Bharat Vikas Sangam, and Bhasvaraj Patil Sedam, Chief Adviser to the organization.
Dr. Hazarika is also popular for his large-scale philanthropic work through the Lok Tirth Datavya Nyas, a charitable trust that he established. The trust has been instrumental in providing basic services such as free boarding and lodging to cancer patients and economically backward people who come to Guwahati for treatment. The trust also offers training courses on subjects such as agriculture, conservation of the environment, pollution control, animal husbandry, food processing, yoga, meditation, and spirituality.
After this acknowledgment, several organizations and community groups, including the Khanapara Sahitya Chora, Chachal Satadal Sakha Sahitya Sabha, and Brihattar Chachal Senior Citizens' Association, conveyed their best wishes to Dr. Hazarika, commending him for his never-flagging commitment to the realm of social welfare and community development, and often portraying him as a source of inspiration for many in this part of the country.
