SILCHAR: In yet another successful raid, Cachar Police seized a huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 4.5 crore. SP Numol Mahatta in a press briefing on Wednesday informed that his team had intercepted a vehicle at Salchapra near Silchar city on Tuesday night and apprehended two persons. During the search, police recovered 72 soap cases containing suspected psychotropic substances weighing 874 grams heroin and 4 packets of opium weighing about 4.035 kilograms. The arrested persons were identified as Md Amo Khan and Md Salim. Both of them were residents of Manipur. Mahatta said that the price of the seized substances in the black market would not be less than Rs 4.5 crore. In the preliminary investigation, it was clear that the substances were illegally transported from Churachandpur district of the neighbouring state.
