GUWAHATI: In a major crackdown against wildlife trafficking operation, Guwahati’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully intercepted and seized approximately 14 kilograms of elephant tusks in Khatira, Bamunigaon.
Based on the intelligence inputs, the operation conducted led to the recovery of the contraband. Further, two individuals believed to be key players in the illegal trade were subsequently arrested.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, the seized tusks are currently being examined in detail by the Bamunigaon Range Forest Officer. Officials confirmed the arrest of Suren Rabha, a 52-year-old resident of Borbakra, Chhaygaon, and Sankar Boro, 48, hailing from Chakrapani, Boko, both located within the Kamrup district of Assam.

Now, the emphasis is on exposing the network behind this illicit activity and trade and identifying any other individuals or groups involved.
