Assam: Excise Superintendent caught red-handed accepting bribe

Tamuli alleged that Barsha Bora Bordoloi allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh as bribe from him to convert his liquor shop license to a bar license.

Morigaon: Sleuths of the Chief Minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Friday caught the Superintendent of Excise, Morigaon, Barsha Bora Bordoloi red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a liquor businessman, Chinmoy Tamuli of Jagiroad, Morigaon.

Tamuli alleged that Barsha Bora Bordoloi allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh as bribe from him to convert his liquor shop license to a bar license. Tamuli refused pay the money. He said, "Then the Superintendent of the Excise asked me to pay Rs 75,000 in the name of converting the liquor shop license to a bar license. As I refused again, she became angry and forced me to pay Rs 60,000 instead of Rs 75,000. I complained to the Chief Minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption and today when I came to pay Rs 20,000 as advance in her office, she was caught red-handed by the sleuths of the Chief Minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption."
