DEMOW: A felicitation was organized in the auditorium of Demow Senior Secondary School (formerly Demow Junior College) situated in Demow Santipur on Wednesday where the students of 2024-25 who passed with flying colours were felicitated. Luhit Saikia, President of the management committee of the school, presided over the felicitation programme.
Lakhipriya Chaura, Lecturer of the Sociology Department, anchored the programme. The students of the school who secured first division in the HSLC Examination and HS Final Examination (Arts and Science Streams) this year were felicitated with citations in the programme.
A teacher’s common room, dedicated to the memory of Late Anil Kumar Dey, who was the Chief Advisor of the school’s management committee, was inaugurated by Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Demow constituency, while Bibekananda Dey, elder son of Late Anil Kumar Dey, lit the earthen lamp.
Rajani Kanta Neog, founder Principal of the school, presented the ‘Rajani Kanta Neog Memorial Award’ to Trijusna Saikia who topped the HS Final Examination of the school. The award carries a memento of Rajani Kanta Neog, citation, gamosa, and a cash of Rs 5000.
The family of Mukti Dutta presented the ‘Mukti Dutta Memorial Educational Award’ to Sasanka Dutta who secured distinction marks in the HSLC Examination. The award carries a cash of Rs 3000, a memento of Mukti Dutta, and a gamosa.
Farewell was also given to the passed out students of Class 10 and Class 12 during the programme. Bokul Dutta, Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School, Keshab Deori, Principal of Desang Rajabari Higher Secondary School, Uday Dutta, Principal of Demow Girls High School, Jitul Sensua, Principal of Demow Senior Secondary School, teaching staff and members of the management committee of Demow Senior Secondary School were present in the programme.
