TINSUKIA: In a tragic fire incident at a marriage house in Tinsukia on Sunday, as many as 7 persons, including 5 women, were burnt, 5 of them critically, when the family members were performing rituals for the marriage, which was to be solemnised on Sunday. All the injured have been shifted to AMCH Dibrugarh.

According to reports, the fire broke out in Chandramoti Bhawan behind Tinsukia Law College. The injured have been identified as Rekha Devi, 40/F; Manju Devi, 55/F; Rina Prasad, 32/F; Subha Sah, 30/F; Punam Devi, 40/F; Kartik Prasad, 40/M; and Rishi Prasad, 31/M.

Though the exact cause of the fire that broke out at the eldest brother’s portion of the building is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be due to electrical faults. The locals, along with fire brigade personnel, rescued all the injured. Meanwhile, the district commissioner, Swapneel Paul, who visited the spot, ordered a magisterial inquiry to ascertain the cause of the fire, which appeared to be unusual.
