Guwahati: There has been a significant improvement in the flood situation in Assam in the past 24 hours, as the number of flood-affected persons has come down drastically to 1,312. All the affected persons hail from the worst-hit district of Goalpara, where 2 villages are still submerged under floodwaters.

Meanwhile, a single house was partially damaged due to the deluge in the past 24 hours.

In a positive sign, not a single death has been reported, keeping the number of casualties steady at 10. Additionally, not a single animal -- big, small, or poultry -- is affected due to floods at the moment. Assam residents will be further heartened to learn that none of the rivers in Assam are flowing above the danger level.

There has been extensive damage in this first spate of pre-monsoon floods, the situation is largely back to normal.

A single road has been damaged in Karimganj due to floodwaters. Additionally, erosion has been reported in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts' (BTAD) Baksa, which has witnessed massive damage to the road infrastructure in this spell of torrential rains.
