LAKHIMPUR: Due to inclement weather and incessant rain, the major rivers of Lakhimpur district have been overflowing since Sunday.
Flood caused by these rivers have inundated a total of 95 villages under six Revenue Circles (RC) across the district. At present, 23 villages under Bihpuria RC, 6 villages under Dhakuakhana RC, 34 villages under Narayanpur RC, 19 villages under North Lakhimpur RC, 2 villages under Naoboicha RC and 11 villages under Subansiri RC have been reeling under flood water. According to District Disaster Management Authority, the current wave of flood has affected a total of 30900 people, 150 hectares of crop area and 23,900 animals including 16,790 big animals, 6555 small animals and 555 poultry.
