Assam Floods: Cachar intensifies post-flood relief measures

SILCHAR: In view of the flood situation in Cachar district, the administration has intensified post-flood relief measures by taking several steps to bring back normalcy in the district. Soon after the official announcement was made by the Assam Government on Thursday, the evaluation and assessment process of flood-damaged houses was started in different areas of Cachar district.

It needs to mention that PWD road department has already restored the (temporary) Jarailtala Raniferi Road connecting the IOCL bottling plant at Jarailtala under T.R.D in Borkhola and Katigorah areas to facilitate the movement of LPG tankers in the district.

On Friday, District Veterinary department distributed cattle feed at Harinagar Gaon Panchayat.

After a call received from a person regarding his father Pranab Das of about 75 yrs of age, who is a retired Assam government employee was stranded alone in his home at Satshanga Ashram Road, relief materials were immediately delivered to Satshanga Ashram Road on Saturday.

To check and control illegal price hiking in the district, district administration has closed down few shops in Ambicapatty, N.S Avenue Rangirkhari areas in Silchar for charging escalated prices on the day.

While, in an exemplary initiative, 3 kids Hitakshi Jain, Ritisha Kumat and Divyangshi Kumat of silchar have handed over of Rs 1100 to DC Jalli from their piggy bank savings for the flood-affected people of Cachar on Saturday.

Meanwhile, APDCL has restored 1823 distribution transformers both in urban and rural in Cachar ,while 387 transformers are yet to be charged, out of which 381 in rural and 6 transformers in urban as stated by the officials of APDCL on Saturday, according to them almost 99 percent in urban areas, power supply has already been restored.

As a part of awareness campaign, on behalf of Cachar administration, extensive mobile announcement was also carried out by DDIPR technical team urging people to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all the wards of Silchar Municipal Board on the day, stated a press release.
